Resident Camp Information

March 1, 2008

Dear Past Camper, Camp Family-Member , and Friend of Camp Auxilium,

This letter comes to you with both a sense of celebration and of sadness.  During the past forty-seven years, Camp Auxilium – the Sisters, Counselors and Staff - have offered a resident Camp program to girls from as near as the New Jersey-New York-Pennsylvania area, and as far away as Massachusetts, Virginia, Florida, Louisiana, Canada, Mexico, Venezuela, Korea, Italy, and Taiwan (to name a few locations).
The reason you are receiving this letter is that either you yourself, or a family member or friend have attended our Camp, or because you have been a friend and supporter of Camp Auxilium. As we celebrate the Centennial of the Salesian Sisters in the United States, we would be remiss if we didn’t also CELEBRATE all the good that has been done through the work that has been accomplished with and for the young through the resident camp program at Camp Auxilium.  Camp Auxilium has been a home, a family, for so many girls during the Summer months.
It is with a sense of gratitude to the Lord and Mary, his Mother, that we CELEBRATE all this good that has been done, and we acknowledge as St. John Bosco would, that “all the good that was done, was done by Mary”.
So it is then with SADNESS that we announce that Camp Auxilium Resident Camp will not reopen for the 2008 Summer Season.  This decision has been made in view of the continuing shortage of Sisters who are available to serve in the residential camp setting as well as the decreasing demand for the resident program.
For those of you who have attended resident Camp, it is our hope and prayer that you will take with you for the rest of your lives the memory of family and home that you experienced at Camp Auxilium.  Equally important is our hope that you will always be able to recall how, just by attending a Salesian Camp, our Blessed Mother, Mary, will always keep her mantle of love, and care, and protection over you and your loved ones.  All you need do is call upon her!
Our summer day camp program which serves our local boys and girls will continue.  Perhaps it will be possible for you to visit one day during the summer season and reconnect with our sisters, staff and the kids who shared our beautiful grounds with you everyday.  You are always welcome!  In particular, we will be having a Camp Auxilium Family Day on Sunday, July 20, 2008, and would be so happy to have you join us for that!  (Please see information page).
Thank you for allowing us, the Sisters, Counselors and Staff members, to be part of your life, and know that our prayers will continue to be present before the Lord for you and all your loved ones.

God bless you and God love you!
